Fridge Voyeur is a virtual visit into the chill zone of the Spoon Crew — our team, our friends, and some of your favorite wellness gurus. We may eat a lot of plants, but you better believe there’s a whole lot of variety, and a little bit of naughty, going on behind closed doors. We know you want a peek ;)

This week, we’re peeking into the fridge of yoga teacher, blogger, and wellness fanatic Shayla Quinn.

Splendid Spoon: Hey Shayla! Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Shayla: Hi! I’m a yoga and fitness loving, green juice-drinking, wanderlusting, wellness junkie, living in Los Angeles with my rescue dog Penny Lane :) [Everyone, take a moment to admire the cuteness that is Penny Lane — Ed.] I love sharing all of my favorite things on my blog Namastshay, teaching and practicing yoga, making fun YouTube videos (you can see my latest here!), hiking, cooking healthy vegan meals, and working out!

SS: What are the 5 staples you can’t live without?
SQ: Avocados, lemons, broccoli, bananas, and raw cashews.

SS: What’s the weirdest thing in your fridge?
SQ: I think someone might find the container of fermented lotus root that I get at the farmers’ market weird. [Near the top of our scale — Ed.] It’s so yummy though! And a great blood detoxifier!

SS: What’s your fave sweet and what’s your fave savory?
SQ: My favorite sweet has got to be Earth Bar WeHo’s acai bowl. It’s so good and so simple: acai, hemp milk and banana blended and topped with their homemade, gluten-free granola, fresh strawberries and fresh bananas! And I’m not going to lie, I do love a good vegan doughnut from time to time too!

I’m a savory girl at heart, so it’s hard for me to pick just one favorite savory! A few of my favorites are vegan cheese-less veggie pizza, roasted brussel sprouts, and avocado toast with cayenne, Himalayan pink salt, and spicy sprouts.

SS: If you were one thing in your fridge, what would it be?
SQ: My Health-ade Cayenne Cleanse Kombucha Tea [A Spoon Captain favorite — Ed.]. It’s a little spicy, bubbly, and vegan, just like me ;) Plus, the pink label matches my pink hair!

SS: What food do you turn to when you want something comforting or nostalgic? Although we eat to keep our bodies strong and healthy, food also connects us to our past, to friends, and to different times in our lives.
SQ: Anything warm, salty, and savory such as pasta, French fries, vegan mashed potatoes, vegan mac and cheese, or soup.
